IAN BOYD – ISLE PRINCIPIA (USA) INC.

Producer

Ian Boyd has been producing since 1983. His driving principle has been to seek out, discover and bear witness to cultural identities in a world where these same identities have become increasingly fragile and endangered.

His productions include, among others, the feature films The Passenger by François Rotger, Yellowknife and Full Blast by Rodrigue Jean, Royal Bonbon by Charles Najman, as well as the feature documentaries American Savannah by Jean-François Méan and Ian Lagarde, Danser Perreault by Tim Southam and Gabrielle Roy by Léa Pool, all of which have been selected and awarded prizes at numerous film festivals.

Ian Boyd has been involved in the Imagined States of America project since its inception. “Pierre Guimond’s photomontages evoke America’s energy and its ennui, its momentum and its malaise. They are ‘made-up’ places, virtual spaces. As we move from photomontage to photomontage, we move from one virtual space to another. But these made-up places are real. Each one evokes America’s contrasts and contradictions, they are the America which defines us, and which defines the Modern World.”

ROBERT MARCEL LEPAGE

Composer

Active in the Quebec music scene for over twenty years, Robert Marcel Lepage has an expansive body of work to his name: Thirteen albums and more than a hundred original scores for film and television, including the music for Patricio Henriquez’s Sous la cagoule, Bernard Émond’s Contre toute espérance, Catherine Martin’s Une jeune fille, Pierre Hébert’s La Plante Humaine, as well as Benoit Pilon’s Ce qu’il faut pour vivre. Also a comic artist, Lepage is author of Le Robert illustré de la clarinette, a humorous, illustrated book of rare clarinets, as well as Le Piano de neige, a journal of personal illustrations.

An artist of diverse influences, Robert Marcel Lepage defies genre with a unique musical style all his own. The clarinet virtuoso draws inspiration from a multitude of sources from around the world. With its wealth of imagery and impressions, the Imagined States of America project is an ideal springboard for Lepage’s multiform sensibilities.
